Live Music Rules!
Just got back from an amazing show up in Baltimore. It was to see hometown heroes, the Kelly Bell Band open for the unbelievable blues trio of Indigenous at Ram’s Head Live. No, we weren’t performing… we were just in the audience as fans this time. These are my two favorite blues bands, for real. It was definitely the best show I’ve seen in recent memory. Go check ‘em out when you can!
With Spring comes change. And so it goes with us. Our lead singer and harp man, Bob, has moved on. Bob had been with us for most of the last seven years and we had some amazing shows with him. However, we’re not slowing down yet. The monthly Blues Jam will continue uninterupted as will the other gigs we have on the books. We feel very fortunate to have some great friends like Chris Given and Roger Hart pitch in and help out. So as the winds of change are upon us, we continue to find strength in our roots, Da Blues.
And lastly, but not leastly, we want to give a huge shout out to our friends in North Avenue. We haven’t been able to lure them over to the blues, but these guys are busy making a name for themselves in the alternative rock arena. They’ve been blowing away audiences in the Emergenza Battle of the Bands. The just won first place at the semi-finals at the State Theater and are on their way to the Washington DC finals at the 9:30 Club in June. Next stop, the regionals in Philly (we hope). Pretty damn impressive for a bunch of sixteen year olds (the youngest band in the competion).
