Christmas Jam, Elvis, and Thai Food

Merry Christmas Y’all! CPBlues has had a great one this year. We kicked off the season by delivering some Christmas Carols to several nursing homes in the area. It was awesome to see the expression on the faces of the seniors there. Some of the folks don’t get a lot of visitors and a few were even moved to tears. Bob said that the experience was the best Christmas present he received. Obviously the band was also moved and motivated. We’re talking about doing it again later in the year maybe with a blues-grass theme.

We had a great time at the December Blues Jam, despite the light turnout. Big thanks to our friend Jeremy who was tearing it up. The highlight had to be the half-dozen or so drunken Santas. Several of the Santas got up (those that could still stand) to sing some Christmas Blues with us. They were loud, off-key and hilarious. At one point while we were singing “Back Door Santa,” one Santa grabbed the back of a chair, bent it over and started spanking it! Now aren’t you sorry you missed that.

Now we’re gearing up for a couple of big shows. In January, we’ll be celebrating the King’s birthday at Dr. Dremo’s. CPBlues will be backing up Elvis (our own Bob Lunger). Our set will open the show, running from 8:00-9:00pm. We’re also looking forward to our first gig at Bangkok Blues in February. Check the gigs page for details.
