…Funky Club. Yes, that means we didn’t win the DC Blues Society competition, but Funky Club is a great bunch of guys. They’re a 3 piece power trio out of Gaithersburg I believe. Chick Hall’s was jammin’ with a crowded house and a packed dance floor. Personally, I thought we had a great set, but it wasn’t to be. CPBlues had a blast participating and are looking forward to the next DC Blues event. Thanks to everyone that supported us!

Our CD is project is progressing nicely. We handed off our first batch of 4 songs to our sound engineer for the final mix-down. As soon as we get it back, we’ll have some samples here!
Also we have a unique gig just added. February 23rd we’ll be competing with a number of other hot DC Blues bands at Chick Hall’s (yes, I thought it was closed too) Surf Club. The winner of the competition will be given the opening slot at this year’s DC Blues festival. Check our gigs page for details as they come in.

Hey, Just wanted to give everyone an update as we head into the holidays. CPBlues is in session, recording session that is. We’re hold up at the brand new “Get Hip Studios” in Arlington, VA. We’ve laid down the tracks for our debut CD to be released in 2008. We will continue recording overdubs into January and then begin rehearsal for the 08 schedule. We’ve started booking already so check out the gigs page for dates and places.

So for the past few weeks, we’ve been trying out our new studio gear and I’m happy to say the tests have been successful. We have just about everything pretty well isolated and the mics and digital interface are doing their respective jobs. Capturing the sound is a piece of cake with this gear. The mixdown is challenging especially for a novice like me. Fortunately one of my co-workers (from my day job), Scott Kuzner, is a genius when it comes to Sonar, which the DAW we’re using. His mix compared with mine are a night and day difference. So we’ve got a great engineer for the job of mixing our final album and hopefully, I’ll learn a few tricks along the way.
We’re going to try and lay down the live tracks for as many songs as we can on December first… so we are on our way. Stay tuned…

We’re taking a little gigging break and will be back on the circuit after the first of the year. Right now we’re in to process of setting up a home recording studio. For the last six weeks or so, we’ve been working on gathering hardware, software, finishing the space, and building some isolation cabinets. Last Wednesday we hit a major milestone and recorded our first test track…. a major accomplishment considering all of the hoops we’ve been jumping through to get the studio up and running. Stay tuned for details and pics in the coming weeks!

What an amazing time at Bethany Beach last week. Had to be one of the largest audiences we ever played for and they really got in to our crowd participation antics. Little Scottie was a big hit in front of his “home town” audience. We found him playing from the back of the bleachers more than once. As we put the last guitar amp in the CPBlues trailer, the sky opened up and it poured, capping off a remarkable performance. Hope to see you beachers at our next show!!!

We had an awesome time at the COF-A-Que on Saturday. It was simply a great weekend of barbecue, bands, and camping. The stage had a total makeover from last year and had a real professional feel. And the crowd this year was huge… the largest I’ve seen in the 3 years I’ve been going. Check out this video of the Cof-a-que, lots of pics of us with background music from our good friends Magnolia Blue. See you at the Beach thursday!!

Here we are in July tryin’ to beat the heat. The CPB summer tour rolls on with a big Blues Jam at Dr. Dremos in Clarendon. That’s right the tradition continues on Sunday July 15th, 8-11. Bring your instrument, whatever it may be, and join CPB on stage. Make sure to catch this jam. We will have a major announcement concerning the future of the Dr. Dremos Blues Jam as well as other upcoming CPB events.
Hey! look at the August calendar! That’s not a misprint CPB will be at 4 different gigs inside of 2 weeks. That’s 4 opprotunities to check out CPBlues. Try to catch us at least 1 gig or be a CPB groupie and see all 4!

Whoa!! We had a blast this weekend kickin out some serious blues. It all started Saturday night at Bangkok Blues in Falls Church, VA. The show kicked off with The Meteors throwin down some hard core Blues to set the tone, man those cats get it done! Go Steve! When CPB took the stage the crowd was swelling to near capacity. With the help of Roger Hart (lead vocals and harp) and Chris Given (lead vocals and alto sax) CPB was large and in charge. Then, the Bus pulled up…? Oh no, not one, but 3 birthdays were celebrated that evening and the crowd was the largest to date at Bangkok Blues. Big thanks to Darrell and his crew for making sure everyone got what they needed, and big thanks to all our fans who made the evening possible.
Sunday, started at Dr. Dremos in Clarendon, a good crowd was on hand playin pool, darts and enjoying premium brews. CPB opened with a few numbers and then made way for Bob Shellhouse and his smokin strat. The night continued with more musicians and a good time was had by all. Thanks to everyone that came out for the jam.
It was a great Fathers day weekend and I/we need some rest.
Next: We’re gonna hit some jams this week (Beach Cove, Chick Halls, Bangkok) and we hope to see some of you there. Again, Thanks to everyone for keepin the blues alive in DC.
